This week's question:

"Give us five BOOK RELATED silly facts about you."

1. I love to snack while I read, especially on sunflower seeds. I'm addicted to those damn sunflower seeds!
2. I always talk to my boyfriend about whatever I'm reading as if he's reading it, too. Bless his heart, though, he always listens! (Or at least I think he does. I'm probably wrong lol.)
3. I love to play online poker and read in between hands.
4. I don't get books from the library. I can't bear to think where all those books have been! I'm a bit of a germ-a-phobe, I guess. (I tell myself that's why I don't go to the gym, either.)
5. I sometimes like to get drunk and read, though there have been many times when I've read almost a whole book and had to re-read it all over again the next day because I don't remember any of it. Guess that's not the greatest of ideas, huh? :p

This week's question:

"Where is you favorite place to buy or swap books?"

I almost always buy my books from Amazon. They always seem to have the best prices and there's free shipping when you spend $25.

Review: Dreamfever by Karen Marie Moning

Title: Dreamfever
Series:
#4 in the Fever series
Author: Karen Marie Moning
Genre: Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance (Adults Only)
Synopsis from Goodreads
"He has stolen her past, but MacKayla will never allow her sister's murderer to take her future. Yet even the uniquely gifted sidhe-seer is no match for the Lord Master, who has unleashed an insatiable sexual craving that consumes Mac's every thought-and thrusts her into the seductive realm of two very dangerous men, both of whom she desires but dares not trust.
As the enigmatic Jericho Barrons and the sensual Fae prince V"lane vie for her body and soul, as cryptic entries from her sister's diary mysteriously appear and the power of the Dark Book weaves its annihilating path through the city, Mac's greatest enemy delivers a final challenge...
It's an invitation Mac cannot refuse, one that sends her racing home to Georgia, where an even darker threat awaits. With her parents missing and the lives of her loved ones under siege, Mac is about to come face-to-face with a soul-shattering truth-about herself and her sister, about Jericho Barrons...and about the world she thought she knew.
"
 My Thoughts

Once again I'm going to avoid any spoilers, and that's really hard to do because these books must be read in order. If you were to pick up Dreamfever you would definitely say, "What the hell!?!" so do yourself a favor and start from the beginning. I am sooooo glad I bought the next and final installment in the Fever series, Shadowfever, right away, because this one ended in a major cliffhanger! This is definitely one of the best in the series so far and that's saying a lot because I've loved all of the previous three. I love MacKayla and Barrons, in fact all of the characters are great! The writing is fantastic as well. Ms. Moning definitely has a fan in me! I will be checking out her other books in the future.

My tease this week is from Life From Scratch by Melissa Ford:

Page 38:
"When the meat comes back out of the oven a few minutes later, the center is a creamy pink, like the photographs. I almost cry, so incredibly proud of the steaks-my babies-and how they have browned in their own juices. I set them aside again, this time with real confidence. I am like a kitchen ninja from an Alton Brown skit, striking out on my own to stave off meat catastrophes."

In My Mailbox 3/21/11

Well it's been a while since I've done an IMM (hosted by The Story Siren!) and I'm too lazy to do a complete update of everything I've got as I'm always getting free Amazon Kindle books, so I'm only going to concentrate on what I bought and won this past week.

From Barnes & Noble:
I'm currently reading this one.

Won:
 In The Storm
Many thanks to Moonlight Gleam's Bookshelf

Other:
The Trouble With Spells (Of Witches and Warlocks)
I got this free with a code from Smashwords

This week's question:

"How did you come up with your blog name?"

I've been using the screen name "Laceyinthesky" for over 10 years now. When I first wanted to make a blog I spent weeks trying to come up with something quirky and original for the title but to no avail. Finally one day I just thought, "Oh, Laceyinthesky...with books. Duh!"

Not Really a Review: Faefever by Karen Marie Moning

Title: Faefever

Series: #3 in the Fever series
Author: Karen Marie Moning
Genre: Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance (Adults Only)
Synopsis from Goodreads
"He calls me his Queen of the Night. I’d die for him. I’d kill for him, too. When MacKayla Lane receives a torn page from her dead sister’s journal, she is stunned by Alina’s desperate words. And now MacKayla knows that her sister’s killer is close. But evil is closer. And suddenly the sidhe-seer is on the hunt: For answers. For revenge. And for an ancient book of dark magic so evil, it corrupts anyone who touches it.

Mac’s quest for the Sinsar Dubh takes her into the mean, shape-shifting streets of Dublin, with a suspicious cop on her tail. Forced into a dangerous triangle of alliance with V’lane, an insatiable Fae prince of lethally erotic tastes, and Jericho Barrons, a man of primal desires and untold secrets, Mac is soon locked in a battle for her body, mind, and soul.

As All Hallows’ Eve approaches and the city descends into chaos, as a shocking truth about the Dark Book is uncovered, not even Mac can prevent a deadly race of immortals from shattering the walls between worlds—with devastating consequences.…
"
 My Thoughts

Ahhh! Okay, well, this isn't really going to be a review because I feel like I can't talk about it without giving away any spoilers. The ending left me speechless, it really did! I had to start the next in the series, Dreamfever, right away. I'm just going to say that Faefever was awesome and it may be my favorite in the series so far. I just ordered Shadowfever so that it'll be here when I finish Dreamfever. Hopefully the final two in the series don't disappoint! I can't wait to find out what happens next, so I'm just going to finish here and go read.

This week's question:

"Who are You the Boy/Girl, instead of You the Blogger?"

Well, obviously my name is Lacey, I'm 25 err no.. 26, and currently live in Los Angeles. I've lived here for almost 6 years now and I hate it. That's a thing about me, I'm a huge underachiever. I hate it here, but I don't move; I hate my job as a waitress, but I don't look for job or go to school to have a profession. I just can't be bothered! Or maybe I don't really hate those things after all. Who knows?!? Anyway, well.. I guess I ran out of things to say. Oh yeah, when I'm not reading or using the internet, I can be found with my boyfriend, smoking, watching some TV and probably eating In-N-Out and pickles.

Page 144:
Normally, I'd relegate the odds of that happening to the realm of the absurd, but if there was one thing I'd learned over the past few months, it was that the absurd really meant "more likely to happen to MacKayla Lane." I wasn't about to risk it.

Review: Love, Unexpectedly

Title: Love, Unexpectedly
Series: #2 in the Wild Ride to Love Series, but can stand alone
Author: Susan Fox
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Synopsis from Goodreads
"At thirty-one, Kat Fallon's luck with men shows no sign of improving. But when she asks her best friend Nav Bharani to be her date at her younger sister's wedding in Vancouver, she has no idea that she's about to get on board the most surprising ride of her life...Nav has been secretly in love with Kat ever since he moved in next door. When she reveals that she loves taking train rides, especially the meeting-strangers part, Nav devises a plan to win Kat's heart. On every leg of her trip to Vancouver, he shows up disguised as a different sexy stranger. Stunned by Nav's daring, Kat finds herself succumbing to his inventive transformations. But what starts out as an innocent adventure soon becomes much more for Kat as she is forced to choose between her long-held fantasies of the perfect mate - and the prospect of something far more real..."
 My Thoughts

This was a ebook freebie from Amazon, and I'm glad it was. The writing was good but I had a few issues. The author did do a good job of creating a train atmosphere and the character Nav was ok, but Kat Fallon was another story. She just seemed bland and superficial. I didn't care for her at all. There was a lot of unnecessary and boring conversation and the ending was horrible! It just sort of ended for no apparent reason. I went to the next page, expecting to read more but there wasn't any. Very disappointing. It was really just, meh. Could've been better.

I should also add this is definitely for adults.

My Rating
I'm giving it 2 stars because I enjoyed about a quarter of it.
